Privacy Policy

Effective 12 October 2026

1. Who we are

This policy explains how Playlier Pty Ltd (ABN 57 698 532 731) ("Playlier", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use playlier.com and the Playlier app. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. What we collect

  • Adults' account details: your name, email address and how you sign in. If you invite another adult to your household, their email address so we can send the invitation.
  • Children's profiles: only what their adult chooses to give: a first name or nickname, an age if you choose, and a colour. We don't ask for a child's full name, email address, photo, school or location.
  • What your household makes: your stories, worlds, characters, rules and settings. We treat them as private to your household unless you choose to share them.
  • Payment information: payments are handled by Paddle, so we never see or store your card details. Paddle tells us what we need to run your subscription, such as your plan, its status, your billing country and the email used at checkout.
  • Messages: if you email us, we keep your message and our reply.
  • Technical information: basic details such as IP address, browser, device type and error reports, used to keep Playlier secure and working.

3. How we use it

  • to create and run your account and household, and let you sign in;
  • to store your family's content and keep it in sync between your devices;
  • to show your content to your household and the people you choose to share it with;
  • to manage your subscription with Paddle;
  • to answer your messages and send you emails about your account;
  • to keep Playlier secure, prevent misuse and fix problems, and to meet our legal obligations.

We only send news or marketing emails if you ask for them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

4. Children

Children don't have accounts and we don't ask them for an email address. An adult creates and manages every child profile, and can see, change or delete it, and the stories connected to it, at any time. We don't contact children, and there is no advertising in Playlier. If we learn that a child has opened an account, we'll close it and delete its information.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run Playlier, and only what each one needs. They include:

  • Paddle, for payments, receipts and tax, as our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle also handles payment information under its own Privacy Notice.
  • Cloudflare, for hosting the website and app and protecting them from attacks.
  • Neon, our database, where accounts, profiles and your family's content are stored.
  • PowerSync, for keeping your family's content in sync between your devices.
  • Our sign-in provider, for signing in and keeping accounts secure.
  • Our email provider, for sending account emails and handling messages to support@playlier.com.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or with professional advisers who must keep it confidential.

6. Information sent overseas

Some of our providers store or handle information outside Australia, including in the United States, the United Kingdom and the countries where Cloudflare has data centres. We choose providers with strong security and privacy commitments and take reasonable steps to make sure they handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent personal information.
  • We don't show ads, or share information with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We don't use tracking or advertising cookies, and we don't build marketing profiles of anyone.

8. Cookies

This website doesn't set cookies and has no analytics or tracking. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor isn't an automated attack. The Playlier app uses cookies only to sign you in and keep you signed in, and stores your family's content and settings on your device so it can sync and load quickly.

9. Keeping it safe

Information travels over encrypted connections, and access is limited to the people and providers who need it. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

10. How long we keep it

We keep account details, children's profiles and your household's content while your account is open. Technical logs are kept for a limited time, and messages for as long as we need them to help you. Paddle keeps payment records for as long as tax and financial laws require. When we no longer need information, we delete it.

11. Seeing, correcting and deleting your information

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you or the children in your household. Email support@playlier.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We may need to check who you are first. There's no charge, and we'll reply within 30 days.

12. Closing your account

When the account holder asks us to close the account, we delete the account details, children's profiles and the household's content from our systems within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed as those backups are replaced. We keep only what the law requires.

13. Questions and complaints

Please contact us first at support@playlier.com. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

14. Changes to this policy

If we make a significant change to this policy, we'll tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
